Fitness Events

A fitness group has been formed as an outgrowth of the discussion group. During the August meeting, which focused on weight loss and fitness, the group expressed interest in doing group exercise activities. Several were suggested including walks at Sugarloaf House, Sugarloaf Mountain, and the C&O Canal, and exercise to video tapes. The events listed below were planned and scheduled following that meeting. As you can tell from the pictures, we prove that improving our health can also be a lot of fun.

August 29, 2004, at Sugarloaf House and surrounding property and park, walk through the      woods after Sunday service
September 5, 2004, at Sugarloaf Mountain, walk through the park for fitness and pleasure;      meet after Sunday services; caravan to Sugarloaf Mt. Bring your exercise shoes and      clothes and join the group. Also, bring a snack and drink or plan around your lunchtime.
September 12, 2004, Walking on the C&O Canal, Violettes Lock
September 19, 2004 Tai Chi with video from the library at Sugarloaf House after service.      Some snacks will be provided but you may also want to bring your own snack and drink or      plan for your lunchtime.
September 26, 2004 Exercise on your own with a video or walk at Sugarloaf House. (No      planned activity due lecture on safety given by Josephine Carr. See you there.)
October 3, 2004, Sugarloaf House, walk through the woods after Sunday services, weather      permitting, or Tai Chi with video from the library at Sugarloaf House after services. Some      snacks will be provided but you may also want to bring your own snack and drink or plan      for your lunchtime.
